He is the messenger of the Loas, he opens the doors, and he is the MASTER of the CROSSROADS,
Exu is the Vodou lwa of communication, the lwa who opens the way for all the other lwa to come. He is a man going on a stick, humbling with his right leg, he has always a phallus and he is staggering around. If you forget him he could appear as troublemaker, disturbing your rite or somewhere else.
Exu should be worshiped on mondays, at the beginning of the new week.
He likes all types of SPIRITS like gin, vodka, whiskey; cola, nuts, and all types of fruits, especially guavas, sugarcane, and coconuts. He also enjoys sweets and candies, balls made of raw cornmeal with honey, smoked fish and small pieces of coconut. And don’t forget CIGARETTES or CIGARS

Colours: red & black, his beads would be 3 red, 3 black over and over until you have the length you want.

You should not wash Exu with water. If he has too much blood try washing him with white wine or some fire water using a white towel and gently scrub. Afterward rub him with some red palm oil.

To greet or salute Exu

Put three drops of water on the floor before him
Knock three times on the floor
Stand facing him
Rub both hands together and ask for his blessings
Then, turn and show your back to him
Scrape your feet backward, toward him, like a bull that is going to charge forward.
Quickly swing your buttocks from side to side a few times and walk away
Remember that Legba is a tricky sort of lwa - he will complain that his leg is broken, and then dance with great skill! So tell him a joke! Why not?

Take 3 pieces of yellow paper or 3sm paper grocery bags.
Corojo butter, smoked fish, smoked jutia, dried corn, cinnamon sticks, small pieces of coconut, cigars, honey,
Have all of the above in 3’s.
... and nine pennies.

Divide and wrap with red and black thread.
Pass each packet overhead 3 times.
Turn around 3 times after passing overhead.
Repeat over feet, hands & body.

Throw away one packet in each of these places.

    2. Field full of weeds
    3. Near a cemetery.
