Here is some main information you need to start with Voodoo. For detail information go to the linksite.LOA is the common name for the Voodoo Gods/Spirits. They have special mantras, signs, prefer special foods, offerings and VEVES. Veves are the Sigils, the signs of the Loas, which are drawn on the floor with flour, salt... or drawn on paper. The Veves are the astral door to them or for them to us. Offerings bring them power; singing the mantra and drumming invites them to stay with us. A special Veve invokes a special Loa.
In the Voodoo Pantheon are many Loas or Orishas. The one of the most important Loas is EXU - Papa Legba, he is the messenger of the gods, he opens the door. Before every voodoo ritual you have to honour Exu - otherwise he could disturb your plans!!!
